Access Control FAQs

A: Access control simply means restricting or controlling access to a premises or building, or within a building, to those people with a right to be there. Access control can include automated gates/barriers, turnstiles and external/internal doors. Access may be granted by intercom, key-fob, keypad, swipe-card or even biometric reader.

A: We design and install all sorts of access control systems; from a single automated gate/barrier, to an intercom door system on a shared house / office up to a large multi-site PC based installation capable of logging and monitoring all staff and visitor movements.

A: We can supply systems based on intercom (voice/video), key-fob, keypad, swipe-card or even on biometric readers.

A biometric reader is one that uses fingerprint, palm print or retina scanning. By definition biometric reader based systems are very secure.

A: On a stand-alone system the access rights of that card are simply revoked through a simple admin process. On a PC based system that fob / card would be marked as lost or stolen, automatically revoking the access (and logging if somebody attempts to use it in the case of stolen fobs / cards).

A: Almost always, but we would need to do a site survey first to provide a definite answer.

A: Not a problem, we can provide a battery powered system charged by a solar cell.

A: Not a problem, we can provide a system that includes a multi-network SIM card.

A: Yes, we can integrate CCTV with access control, we can even provide ANPR for barrier entry on larger installations.

A: A twelve month guarantee is applicable to all works carried out by, and equipment supplied from Hamilton Security Systems Ltd.

A: All systems need inspecting annually. We will always clearly state any annual or on-going charges in your quotation.

We have several decades of experience and have installed and maintained thousands of security systems for home owners and for all types of business. And we are SSAIB registered so can provide key-holding and monitoring services; and as part of our SSAIB registration we are required to work to specific standards and have our work inspected.
