CCTV Systems FAQs

A: CCTV stands for closed circuit TV, that means it isn’t broadcast, but that the feed from the cameras on your property is monitored and recorded directly on DVR (digital video recorder).

A: CCTV reduces opportunistic crime, a property protected by visible CCTV is less likely to be targeted than a neighbouring property that is not protected. CCTV also increases conviction rates, anyone caught on CCTV committing an offence is very likely to plead guilty at the first opportunity, which can save the victim a considerable amount of time and reduce their legal fees.

A: We undertake a free Security Survey and will recommend the most suitable camera types, locations and recording system; and discuss any requirement for future expansion (e.g. additional cameras requiring extra DVR channels).

A: Yes, all systems we supply and fit come with a Smart Phone App to allow footage to be viewed on your phone, or on any computer/tablet with an internet connection.

A: You will need a static IP, but if your internet provider cannot provide one we can assist with a third-party service.

A: All our digital systems record at 1080P high definition (720 for analogue) so the quality of the recorded footage is very high. All systems supplied by Hamilton Security Systems allow captured footage to be exported from the DVR onto DVD or memory card to be presented as evidence.

A: Yes, we can supply cameras with built in infra-red capability for night-time recording.

A: This depends on the number of cameras; but we normally supply systems that can store 4 weeks footage at a time, but can specify larger hard-drive capacity if required. Again this is an area we would identify and discuss on your free Security Survey.

A: A twelve month guarantee is applicable to all works carried out by, and equipment supplied from Hamilton Security Systems Ltd.

A: All systems need inspecting annually (twice a year if police-monitored) and there is a service charge for monitored CCTV systems. We will always clearly state any annual or on-going charges in your quotation.

A: Absolutely. We provide a first class service, tailored to our customer’s requirements. We have several decades of experience and have installed and maintained thousands of security systems for home owners and for all types of business. And we are SSAIB registered so can provide key-holding and monitoring services; and as part of our SSAIB registration we are required to work to specific standards and have our work inspected.
